Tower of God Volume 2: The Hell Train: “Power” (Episodes 302 through 305) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this Webtoon Review. Please read with caution.
On September 23, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Hell Train’s eighteenth story arc: “Power”. Picking up where we left off in the previous arc, Baam had turned the tides against Data Zahard with his own power. This new power forced Data Zahard to take his powerful opponent more seriously.
Their epic battle was amazing throughout this arc, and it spoke to Data Zahard’s character—who was reminded that he was a true adventurer. The battle made Data Zahard realize that Baam could give that same feeling to his real self on the outside. Baam earned Data Zahard’s respect—and the victory—in this fight. Baam’s power was compared to an Administrator’s—with the potential to reach the real Zahard’s strength if he keeps powering up like this.
I’m being very repetitive at this point, but the artwork in this arc was also incredible. Baam’s and Data Zahard’s special attacks were drawn beautifully to the highest degree. SIU keeps on improving his art even after so many years—what talent. Baam’s innocent gaze was perfection as always, and Data Zahard’s cape looked like a legit axe at one point. I was most impressed with this fight, and playing the anime’s OST helped heighten the reading experience. I highly suggest playing OST to make the reading more immersive.
Rachel pulled the “bitch card” in this arc, planting and triggering a bomb in Khun’s heart. She also wants to keep her beautiful new Avatar body, hating that weak and ugly body she was born with. Those were her words, not mine. Living up to the “Tower of Betrayal” name, she made a deal with a Big Breeder to keep her new body in exchange for helping the Big Breeder escape the Hidden Floor as well.
The Mirror of the Past was successfully destroyed as well, but Khun’s fate remained unknown by the end of this arc. Rak and the rest of the team didn’t know how to save him from a bomb exploding in his heart. The cliffhanger—with the real Zahard appearing—is going to be a game-changer going into the last few arcs. I’m excited to see where everything goes from here. Pray for Khun, Tower of God fans.
Side-note: My theory about Data Zahard looking like Wangnan—a Sora-Roxas-Ventus situation—was debunked, but there could still be some familial connection there. I guessed technically it was already debunked based on Androssi and Yuri not saying anything about Wangnan’s face, but I’m not even sure they’ve met Zahard before or seen his face? I’m thinking too hard into this nonsense (LOL).
Thanks for reading this Webtoon review, everyone! Let’s keep it climbing up the Tower!
