Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle: “One Shot, One Opportunity” (Episodes 58 through 65) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this Webtoon Review. Please read with caution.
On September 6, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle’s sixth story arc: “One Shot, One Opportunity”. I had a fun time with this arc and the return of Team Leesoo kicking ass in this game. The rules of the game—One Shot, One Opportunity—were complicated as usual, but the chaos when the guns started firing made the situation easy to follow. I also enjoyed Viole befriending the Traveler as “The 25th Baam” during this arc, having shared his real name with him.
There was also a payoff with Hatsu—the swordsman—and “Devil of the Right Arm” Cassano, reminding us that those characters have an interesting history with each other. Hatsu’s new sword attack against Cassano was the best drawn action sequence Tower of God had produced so far. I was surprised and amazed how intricate the artwork had been getting lately. Keep up the good work, SIU!
There were other character payoffs with Androssi and Anak—Zahard’s Princesses—when they each encountered Viole separately, having failed to recognize him as Baam due to his different appearance and a last-minute facemask. Anak’s fight scene against Ran was also spectacularly drawn and vastly superior to her beginning fight scenes from Volume 1’s “Crown Game”. I have missed all the Volume 1 characters so much.
Prince and Miseng were kidnapped during this arc, having been taken captive by Verdi, a member of Team Leesoo. Ja Wangnan tried to save them during this arc, but he wasn’t strong enough to get them in time. Khun compared Wangnan’s stupidity for wanting to save them to Baam’s, fully understanding now why Viole took a liking to this guy and the rest of this team. There was a lot to keep tabs on throughout this series, but I am fully invested at this point.
Hearing Viole say he lost his reason to live a long time was heartbreaking. Khun was also listening from behind a wall too. I hate Rachel so much for what she did to them, and I can’t wait for them to get revenge on her someday. Honestly, I hope Rachel doesn’t reach the top of the Tower. She does not deserve to go up there after everything she did. I also spotted Rak hiding and checking on Khun, so hopefully the original team will get to reunite soon.
Tower of God’s “One Shot, One Opportunity” arc also ended on a nice cliffhanger involving Androssi and the Traveler discussing Ju Viole Grace and the 25th Baam. With the One Shot, One Opportunity game over and another character learning Baam is alive and Viole, I’m positive the next arc is going to be more intense. I also have a feeling more betrayal is on the way…
Thanks for reading this Webtoon review, everyone! Let’s keep it climbing up the Tower!
