Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle: “Closure” (Episodes 95 through 107) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this Webtoon Review. Please read with caution.
On September 8, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle’s thirteenth story arc: “Closure”. There were payoffs on top of payoffs throughout this last major arc. Baam, Rak, and Khun were finally reunited as a team, Yihwa finally saw Baam smile, Leo-Ro and Quant made a comeback to save everyone, and we finally learned the truth about Emile.
There was a lot going on—as per usual—but Tower of God managed to exceed the audience’s expectations through excellent plot development, great character moments, and the beautiful artwork. The prime example was the final villain set-up for Reflejo.
The background story on Beta—the one I thought would be the final villain, but he was swiftly taken down in episode 95—was tragic, and how he was tricked into believing Baam was the source of all his problems was heartbreaking to say the least.
Reflejo’s backstory was equally tragic when he revealed he was blinded for looking at a Zahard’s Princess, hating the Gods for punishing him the way he did. As a result, Reflejo became heartless and dedicated himself to making Baam a weapon for his master Karaka. His awesome character design was sinister too, heightening the fight scene against the trio.
The artwork for the action sequences, emotional moments, and the character designs—especially Baam’s and Androssi’s—have been so consistent lately. Having Baam, Rak, and Khun stand together as a team against the final villain of the arc—Reflejo—was a gorgeous scene. They were drawn so perfectly together. The nostalgia was real. Together again after eight years apart. SIU had come a long way since Volume 1.
Androssi and Hatsu’s fight scene against Varagarv was also engaging and drawn intricately. The details on Androssi’s outfit, the damage done to it, and the power behind her attacks were incredibly fierce. The distance between Androssi’s Volume 1 design to Volume 2’s is miles apart.
I had an exhausting time with Tower of God, but seeing Baam, Khun, and Rak together again was worth the climb. That view of them sleeping together was everything. Climbing the Tower takes a lot of dedication, intrigue, stamina, and patience. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next with the next story arc—after the Epilogue arc—and getting a glimpse of what reading Big Daddy One Piece manga will be like.
Thanks for reading my Webtoon review, everyone! It has been quite the journey so far. To quote Chris Evans’ Captain America, “I could do this all day.”
