Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle: “The Summoning” (Episodes 91 through 94) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this Webtoon Review. Please read with caution.
On September 8, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle’s twelfth story arc: “The Summoning”. Tower of God was getting incredibly epic with everything going on with Baam, Wangnan, Khun, Rak, Yihwa, and Beta. There were other characters doing cool things too, but I was more focused on those six. Starting with this Webtoon review, I will be referring to Baam as Baam. I think he’s finally coming back.
I enjoyed the high stakes chase that was happening throughout this arc, with Wangnan running toward the item shop to summon Baam as an item and Baam following Hwa Ryun to reunite with his friends. Khun and his intellect will always be impressive, but what most impressed me was Baam’s character design.
Starting with this arc—technically in the last arc but definitely more consistent in this arc—Baam’s eyes were being featured as part of his design rather than just being used during the emotional moments. With the reunion between former allies drawing closer, Baam was starting to let go of his Ju Viole Grace persona. The three-way chat between Baam, Khun, and Wangnan was adorable too… until another twist happened.
I almost burst into tears when Beta pierced Wangnan’s heart from behind. Seriously, Tower of God never gives these guys a break. Luckily, he survived for the time being, but…
I’m not even going to finish that thought. I’m just happy Wangnan is alive and pushed through the fatal injury to complete Baam’s summoning. Not going to lie, I think Ja Wangnan is my favorite character.
One more thing before I close out this Webtoon review, Laure—the dude who was always sleeping during Part 1—made a comeback with Rak and Yihwa to fight Beta. I have missed Laure, but his commitment to sleep couldn’t have come at a worst time. Rak trying to bite into his sleeping bag to wake him up was hilarious though.
With Baam successfully summoned and Beta going off on a rampage, I believe the next arc should be a good action sequence type arc. Baam and Beta—two people forced to be ignition weapons—are going to face off. Who do y’all think will win? Betting on the main protagonist would seem like a safe bet, but this is the Tower of Betrayal…
Sound off in the comments! Let’s keep it climbing up the Tower!
