Tower of God Volume 2: The Prince of Zahard: “The Wool’s Knot” (Episodes 23 through 25) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this Webtoon Review. Please read with caution.
On September 5, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Prince of Zahard’s seventh story arc: “The Wool’s Knot”. Finally, the focus returns to the storyline we left behind in Part 1 with Khun helping Rachel climb the Tower in honor of Baam’s death. Six years have passed since Baam “died”, and Khun has put together a new team to “help” Rachel. However, the story once again twisted and revealed another layer to Khun’s motives for helping Rachel.
Khun’s intellect—similar to Norman’s scary intellect from The Promised Neverland— continues to terrify me and his ability to deduce the truth and conceal it from others. Khun suspects—correctly but not confirmed for him yet—that Rachel “killed” Baam and has done everything thus far to get revenge for his best friend.
The set-up to how Rachel seemed like she was in control at the arc’s beginning was brilliant—like she was the one manipulating Khun the whole time in order to see the stars at the top of the Tower. Rachel is also pretending to be crippled, which Khun already figured out based on information he received from Leo-Ro. Khun and Rachel have been playing a six-year game of cruel manipulation with Khun currently in the lead. I’m looking forward to seeing Rachel go down for everything she’s done.
The set-up to Khun’s new team was perfect, as it followed up with Viole—Baam—assembling his own team reluctantly in the previous arcs. The thought of these two teams meeting and potentially clashing is going to be incredibly epic. We were also introduced to more new characters—Khun’s new teammates—in this arc like Novick, Ran, Michael, and new scout Edin Dan. Leesoo was also mentioned, having led the old team from Volume 1 away from Rachel and Khun until the time was right. Well, the time has come for them to meet up again.
Overall, Tower of God loves playing the long game with the climb up the Tower and shifting the motives for our long-standing protagonists. Khun wants to become the Head of the Khun Family still, but he also wants revenge on Rachel for what she did. Hopefully, he learns that Baam is still alive in the Tower soon. Thanks for reading my Webtoon Review, everyone! The read is exhausting at times, but luckily I have a high level of patience, so let’s keep it climbing up the Tower, everyone!
