Tower of God Volume 2: The Prince of Zahard: “Epilogue” (Episode 22) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this webtoon review. Please read with caution.
On September 4, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Prince of Zahard’s sixth story arc: “Epilogue”. Doing the math, the Epilogue was also Tower of God’s 100th episode. Reaching 100 episodes—from August 30, 2020 to September 4—in six days feels like a milestone worth celebrating and acknowledging. I’m feeling quite warmed up for more Tower of God while also preparing for my eventual reading challenge against the Big Daddy One Piece manga.
The arc is also a single chapter that wraps up the loose ends of the previous arcs. The Epilogue also explained how everyone else passed the test with Viole instead of failing like they were supposed to.
Turns out, Wangnan was tricky and swapped out Viole’s remote controller with his own. This switch made Viole activate Wangnan’s controller and making himself lose in the process. I have to admit that Wangnan really knows how to go for the cheap wins.
The late-night conversation between Viole and Wangnan was also insightful. Instead of being angry at Wangnan for the trickery, Viole simply asked why he forgive Lurker for everything he did and also his reason for wanting to climb up the Tower. Wangnan’s answers were insightful and honest, making me realize how great of a character he actually will be moving forward. Most likely, Viole is starting to see a lot of his former self—Baam—in Ja Wangnan.
Love—my favorite cartoony Ranker—was suspended for ten days, but he accepted the consequences for his own selfish desire to get revenge against FUG through Viole. The larger plot development comes into focus during Love’s interaction with 20th Floor’s Test Director Augusgus, who is revealed to have an unexpected connection with FUG, Viole, and Prince when he told an unknown person that “everything was going according to plan”.
I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next with Tower of God. A familiar character made his return at the end of the Epilogue too, so I’m excited to see where he factors in the story. Thanks for reading my Webtoon review, everyone! I have to keep climbing up the Tower now! This mystery-driven Webtoon series is easily becoming an unhealthy obsession.
