Tower of God Volume 2: The Prince of Zahard: “Epilogue, Path” (Episodes 34 and 35) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this Webtoon Review. Please read with caution.
On September 5, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Prince of Zahard’s tenth story arc: “Epilogue, Path”. This arc also concluded The Prince of Zahard story and set-up the next story, The Workshop Battle. With everything now out in the open about Viole, his past, and his old friends being in danger, the current team has to decide whether to continue climbing up the Tower with him after he wakes up from his coma—if they can even do it based on their inferior power levels. The only people truly committed to helping Viole at the arc’s start were Ja Wangnan and Yeon Yihwa.
Yeon Yihwa also had to deal with the fallout of learning about her family’s dark side and what they were doing with the flowers—keeping the rare status by controlling the pig population—in the previous arc. She decided to change the Yeon Family by becoming an elite once she reached the top of the Tower, and she started that goal by taking over Viole’s cooking duties—which he took over for her initially because she couldn’t cook. SIU’s ability to weave in the comedic moments somehow gets me literally every time. I’m starting to appreciate Tower of God’s sense of humor.
Jinsung—Viole’s martial arts teacher—is also given screen time with his servant Karaka and their plans for Viole in FUG. Apparently, FUG has trust issues with Jinsung. He might be growing too attached to Viole, as he claimed to Karaka that he only allowed Viole to have more friends—the new team—so there will be more leverage to use against him in the near future, but that might not be the whole reason. The higher-up Rankers and various organizations in the Tower are so fascinating to keep track of. What is FUG’s endgame regarding the Tower, Viole, and Zahard?
Hwa Ryun and Ja Wangnan also made a deal on how to keep helping Viole—wanting to find his friends—by reaching the 30th Floor in two years, where The Workshop Battle will take place. Hwa Ryun also foreshadowed a secret that Wangnan is keeping from everyone by addressing him as “The Prince of the Red-Light District.”
Now this is only a theory, but I believe Ja Wangnan is the Prince of Zahard, given that Volume 2 Part 1 is indeed called “The Prince of Zahard” and now that Part 1 is now over and no else claimed the title…
Okay sure. I’m going to assume Ja Wangnan is the Prince of Zahard until somebody tells me otherwise.
Wow. I’m officially done with Tower of God’s Volume 2 Part 1 and moving onto the next part of the story. Thanks for reading my Webtoon review, everyone! Let’s keep it climbing up the Tower for Baam and everyone else in danger!
