Legacies 1x15 "I'll Tell You A Story" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
The info-dump was necessary. I have to say that before I go into how much I try to avoid doing that. In this case, there was no other way around it. Julie Plec is good on plot twists though… I assumed Clarke was a father to Landon, but it turns out I was wrong, and the whole story is different. Malivore is not a place, but a supernatural golem created by a witch, vampire, and werewolf. A triad… which makes Landon the son of Malivore.
I enjoyed learning the twist so much, going through the info-dump was okay… because I actually wanted to learn more. The stakes are higher for everyone now that all the cards on the table.
Hope is working through her feelings / fight with Landon, Rafael is struggling to fix his splintered mind and the feelings he has for Hope, The twins are feuding harder than ever, and Alaric can’t run the school alone.
Alaric’s heartbreaking confession about The Merge was raw, beautiful, and potent, having to admit there is something he can’t protect them from. Josie and Lizzie were on the verge of almost killing each other too, but luckily Hope called her Aunt Freya for the truth. I wonder how Caroline will react to the twins knowing what she’s really up to.
MG is absent in this episode, but he’ll be back in the finale to confront his mother on her employment at Triad, the company trying to kill the students and take over the Salvatore School. The cliffhanger is crazy, Hope and the team ready to go save Landon, but the enemy already beat them to the final showdown.
Overall, a lot of good moments between characters, the info-dump was long but needed, the twist about Landon’s “legacy” (hehe) makes me one of his kind as well… something he has in common with Hope now, and the setup for the final battle were all strong points. Season finale can’t come soon enough.
