Grey's Anatomy 16x06 "Whistlin' Past the Graveyard" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
There was a lot going on in this episode. The “Meredith” storyline is losing steam, but Jo Karev, Alex Karev, and Owen Hunt are dealing with a bad blood supply at Pac-North. It’s pretty fun, but the overall purpose of Pac-North is still unclear. But with new investors at that graveyard hospital and Grey-Sloan’s damaged reputation. Maybe the place will rise later in the season.
DeLuca and Zola had some interesting one-on-one time in this Halloween special. Zola was being callous to DeLuca for stepping up to help while Meredith spent time in prison. This development was treated low-key as I believed last week Meredith would “win” jail, which was part of the reason I believe this storyline’’s just spinning its wheels. Anyway, I did like how DeLuca told Zola about Derek’s surgery on Issac, one of the best episodes in the entire series.
Jo Karev’s Halloween costume was amazing. I did like how Alex and Jo “officially” married on Halloween. The pregnancy scare legit frightened me, but good thing it was a prank. It got all of us so bad. Making Jo have a baby alongside Amelia and Bailey might not be the best idea.
Amelia, Link, and his parents were the light humor. I’m on board with Amelia and Link. This was the storyline Amelia needed to escape Owen Hunt. Link’s parents are not the best people in the world. But, I did die of laughter when they told their news on Link’s cancer-versary. That baby’s going to be so loved.
Bailey and Tom bonding was kind of entertaining. Kind of. Although, how Tom made her cry at the end was a good tension-breaking moment. Teddy needs a better storyline than the motherhood one she’s on. I was really happy that her character returned to the show, but the writing needs to get better for her.
Overall, the Halloween episode was kind of uneven and a poor follow-up to Meredith’s jail storyline that “threatens” her medical license. I doubt the show’s going to take her medical license away… reminds me of what they tried in season 13 with Alex Karev. Jo’s pregnancy joke also fell in line with season 13 vibes. I don’t want to feel season 13 vibes.
