Legacies 2x05 "Screw Endgame" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
I enjoyed this episode more than I should’ve. I loved the Hope-Lizzie reunion / lecture. The Josie-Landon romance (not a fan) had good moments. MG and Kaleb’s bromance was a bright spot in this episode as well. Not a lot happened on the plot front, but the show set up a lot with Sebastian and Professor Vardemus. The plot twist with Wesley character was unexpected for sure. It reminds me of the professor was switched twist from Harry Potter.
Hope and Lizzie’s friendship was a nice return to some normal for Hope. She’s happy that Lizzie remembers, but it wasn’t an over dramatic type reunion. The 80’s themed maze or labyrinth scenario was an amazing nod to the decades dance and that era overall. This is the “A” plot, but not the most engaging storyline.
MG and Kaleb’s deal with Sebastian was more entertaining and a good reminder on what The Vampire Diaries used to be like with vampires. I’m intrigued to see what he plans to do with his new freedom, and his intentions for Lizzie Saltzman. MG and Kaleb have a great bromance and their dance-off was top-tier. I want more of that at future dances.
Josie and Landon are dealing with “Let’s have sex” after the decades dance, but I wasn’t really feeling it. I understand Landon’s side as he interacted with Dorian about it, and I enjoyed the whole “I forgot the condom” as it immediately meant the sex wasn’t gonna happen that night. Josie is insecure about Hope after finding Landon’s song about her. I wish we got more Penelope mentions from Josie directly rather than Lizzie guessing it.
I did like Josie and Alaric’s brief father-daughter moment though. This is where the Josie I loved from season one emerged. She loves her father, and wanted to set me free when she kicked him out as headmaster. It was honest and sweet.
Professor Vardemus being Clarke was not expected. I thought the two would be working together sure, but being each other? That wasn’t considered but it sparked a Harry Potter trope they did in one of the movies about a professor being impersonated. Legacies has a lot more surprises up their sleeves hopefully. There were two red hoods in the previous episode after all.
Looking forward to next week’s episode!
