Grey's Anatomy 16x07 "Papa Don't Preach" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
This episode dealt with family issues. Richard Webber’s brother Chris and niece Sabi come visit Seattle. They go to Grey-Sloan thinking Webber still worked there, and run into Maggie. The two girls look alike (sisters in real life), and start trying to bond with each other on the way to Pac-North. The other story is Amelia Shepherd visiting Pac-North to tell Owen that she’s having a baby with Link. Meredith is spending her time there as well to reunite the sister pack. I miss their sister moments.
Let’s start with Maggie Pierce and Richard Webber. We learn that things are tense with Chris and Richard because being a doctor made him superior to the family. Sabi is kind however and welcoming. Sabi also has a tumor on her heart. Chris or Sabi doesn’t want Maggie to operate because “family” and want someone else. Maggie bullies them into choosing her, and that costs her plus Richard everything. Sabi dies on the table. Chris’ rage is maddening. Plus, they found the time for Catherine Fox and Gemma drama.
Amelia Shepherd and Owen Hunt are the most complicated people on the planet. The family that they’ve put together is really insane, and Owen makes everything worse. It bothers me so much how controlling he is about Amelia and why it bothered him very much, but that stairway scene did make me feel for him a lot. Owen just went about it the wrong way.
This episode focused on the sisters for a change at Pac-North. I’m not sure what’s going on with that place, but I hope nobody else jumps ship there. Overall, Meredith showed up, but her trial arc is spinning its wheels until next week.
