Supernatural 15x05 "Proverbs 17:3" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
I found myself being uninterested in this “filler” episode until it hit the 20-minute mark. The case of the week played out rather quickly. Sam and Dean use throwback identities from season one (OMG!), they protect a blond girl from brother werewolves, and after they off themselves, the truth comes out. The blond girl wasn’t a victim at all. She was demon. A White-Eyed Demon. Chuck brought Lilith back from The Empty to help him mess with the Winchesters.
Lilith was an unexpected treat. She was not in my top 5 of returning, but this is a case where I’m glad the show proved me wrong. Ruby and Meg better come back next.
Lilith bested the boys despite their new toys like Angel Blades and Devil’s Trap bullets. She wasn’t supposed to kill them obviously as Chuck has something else planned. She simply wants the Equalizer in order to destroy it. Chuck doesn’t want it around. Dean’s trying his best, but the demon manages to get the Equalizer and destroy it. This hurts Dean to his core because he thought they were free.
Sam reveals what he’s been hiding since last episode. The Equalizer bullet connected him and Chuck to all the possible endings he wants for Sam and Dean. One brother killing the other. That’s the ending he’s always liked. Dean and Sam are at a loss on what to do. Sam wants to fight, but Dean doesn’t know how to fight God Himself.
Overall, an episode disguised as a filler with a great twist. Having Lilith back in the mix is a strong sign of the show’s direction for The Ending. I’m looking forward to see who else’s coming back for the final season.
