Supernatural 15x04 "Atomic Monsters" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
The opening scene was not Supernatural but an all-out action sequence. We saw Dean fight like he was on a superhero show, see his friend Benny die again, and watches his brother Sam murder him. We also got a mention of the demon blood addiction again. Afterwards, Sam wakes up from his dream vision. There is no further mention of this scene for the rest of the episode.
The main plot of the episode is centered around a case involving vampire attacks. The B-plot involves Chuck reuniting with super fan Becky for some inspiration on his writing. I couldn’t believe how well-done this episode layered the storylines together using meta references to boot. Supernatural was always effective in that regard. Becky’s criticism on Chuck’s first rough draft seemed to be a meta reference on how the episode played out. The distinct lack of Castiel mentions. Yes. We didn’t get any.
Chuck also “Thanos” Becky and her new family in the end. I’m just glad he didn’t kill them outright. His planned ending has me worried, but I hope the Winchesters are able to end him or stop him from doing what he wants with their lives.
