How To Get Away With Murder 5x06 "We Can Find Him" Episode Review
Major spoilers are included in this episode review. Please Read with Caution.
I’m getting tired of this show. If it gets renewed for a sixth season, I’ll probably watch, but I won’t do any more reviews on it. For the time being, I made a commitment and will continue to write out my thoughts until the season/series finale. It doesn’t seem like the show has any intention of stopping anytime soon… let’s get into the latest episode.
Bonnie and her sister Julie are reunited. Nobody likes this development. Not Frank. Not Miller. Not Annalise. But Bonnie is determined to figure out what happened to her child and to protect the little girl under Julie’s care… her niece.
The truth is unclear throughout the episode. Julie claims their father sold the baby to randoms but confesses to NA that it wasn’t the truth. The truth “would kill [Bonnie]”. Frank records all of this and plays it for Bonnie. Then we get another “maybe” truth-bomb from Julie after she’s confronted about the gun in the house.
Julie took the baby and ran with it after their father stopped at a light. Then she took the baby and buried him to “protect him”. What the hell? I’m confused and don’t care anymore. With all this misdirection, I think it’s Gabriel.
Laurel knows the truth about Gabriel but doesn’t say what it is. Only she wishes she can forget about it. Frank warned her that knowing these truths wouldn’t be easy. Gabriel confronts her and assures her that nothing romantic will happen. This is the reason he assumes Laurel has been giving him the cold shoulder. She is noticeably more creeped out when Gabriel talks about Wes.
Connor and Oliver are dealing with their moms this week. Oliver has a hard time saying “no” to his mother and not disclosing something. Connor helps his lover through it, and his mother is also supportive. Oliver tells his mom that he’s HIV-Positive, and it brings them back closer.
Annalise is offered a job offer by the Governor. This is a sketchy situation that her boss points out and most likely a trap to keep Annalise out of her way.
Then we learn Emmett Crawford’s “misconduct” was him falling in love with a client. It didn’t work out and for legal reasons, it is labelled as “misconduct”. Although Annalise is leaning towards staying with Caplan&Gold, when the Governor offers to pardon Nate Jr., the offer is too-hard to refuse.
Nate Jr. is scheduled for release to live with his son Nate. That is, until he was killed during the transfer. The circumstances of his death were too convenient because now, Annalise is stuck working for the Governor.
Overall, the episode was okay. Miller is going to propose in the flash forward. I think the season is too disjointed at this point, and I’m having a hard time investing in the murky plot.
