Supergirl 4x06 "Call To Action" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please Read with Caution.
This review is on last week’s episode. The newest episode review will be posted tomorrow. I will provide a link for it here when I have watched and reviewed it.
Supergirl had a difficult time with their tone. The Children of Liberty began to mark Alien houses and planned a series of attacks on Thanksgiving day. This dark horrid assault should’ve painted a darker picture, but then a lizard turned into a dragon and attacked the city. Harry Potter and dog jokes were made. This is where the tone was inconsistent.
James Olsen’s benevolent intentions are muddled at best. He claims to be going undercover in the Children of Liberty but seems more than willing to listen to a member without wondering why he kept calling his wife anytime his dog barked at a house. This was clearly how the houses were being marked, but he couldn’t put it together.
Lena Luthor is descending into the Grey Area and conflicts with her love, James Olsen over how to handle the Children of Liberty. She wants humans to become equals and experiments on the black kryptonite to give her people a fighting chance. I think this character direction works out because it isn’t evil or good: Grey.
Nia Nal is also experiencing sleeping issues that everyone won’t stop talking about. She and Brainy are really cute. I hope she gets to dress up soon for the second half of the season.
The Thanksgiving Dinner Scene was an interesting watch because the tense conversation was carefully crafted around those who knew and didn’t know about Supergirl. The debate almost got out of hand too. Alex didn’t get drunk either. She usually gets drunk.
Manchester Black is our newest addition and the darkest one after what happened to his beloved Fiona. The torture, the grief, and the tragic path are going to lead him to ruin once Supergirl or Martian Manhunter discovers his actions.
This episode was kind of clunky, but hopefully the newest one doesn’t disappoint. I’ll be seeing you shortly!
