Station 19 2x01 "No Recovery" Episode Review
Major spoilers are included in this episode review. Read with Caution.
The successful spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy has returned! Apologies for the late post, I was out of state for a wedding and didn’t have enough time to sit down to write these reviews. But now I’m back and ready to give you the rundown of what happened.
The flashback sequences for the Station 19 crew was needed.
Andy and Maya
Jack and Dean
Travis and Vic
Andy, Maya, and Jack
Papa Herrera and Ryan
These were necessary to help remind the viewers of what’s at stake and to help new viewers understand why these are our main characters. I enjoyed learning where everyone was before this show and how they became the team who risked everything for each other.
Ben Warren is the outsider and that is made horribly clear when he prioritizes Molly (fire victim) over Travis, who was bleeding out. Vic is hardest on Ben for leaving one of their own and begs DeLuca (cameo!) to save his life… luckily Maggie Pierce did just that!
Molly wasn’t so lucky. I hated how she died! Ben is broken over this development. I cried… the weight of her death was too much. I felt bad for the mother!!
Vic is too distraught and takes it out on Ripley! She is too much sometimes! Well next time she does it, she’s fired… so she has to be cautious with her next outburst.
Pruitt Herrera was saved by Miranda Bailey (Grey’s) and Ryan just in time! He’s also closer to getting toward remission… that’s either really good or very bad depending if Death is coming for the Captain.
Jack is alive too! Everyone managed to make it out! Except Molly… Rest in Peace.
The new Captain of Station 19 is also named by the episode’s end…. and it’s not any of the main characters (shocker?). No one expected Andy or Jack to assume the Captain position after disrespecting Ripley’s orders. This new Captain also has history with Jack and Dean… he means business!
I’m excited for the crossover and what happens to the status quo of the fire station!
