Grey's Anatomy 15x03 "Gut Feeling" Episode Review
Major spoilers are included in this episode review. Read with Caution!
Hey y’all! I got a couple of episode reviews coming your way, and I thought I’d start with the one fresh on my mind: Grey’s Anatomy. I’m going to try something different for these future episode reviews in honor of “Blog-tober” Fest and write beyond the recap. Some of my past reviews relied too heavily on recap, but I’m going to challenge myself and stay on topic of character interactions.
I mean, that’s the whole reason we watch Grey’s or any other show: we invest in characters. We love them, we hate them, we don’t care, we hate to love… characters are the investment. It’s the make or break (most of the time) if we wanna keep reading or watching.
I’ve rambled enough! Let’s dive into the episode review.
ALEX KAREV IS INTERIM CHIEF OF SURGERY! I HAVE TO CAP ALL OF THIS!
His first day is filled with so much headache. He took Bailey’s parking spot, has to manage the police during an incident with a drunk teacher and student, and he fired Roy on the spot for not properly managing a patient with a nosebleed. He also spend the entire quarter budget thinking he stayed under the month’s budget. Yeah, things are going to be rough for him.
Bailey is too stressed about Karev messing up the job that she forgets about the other Karev. Jo Karev… it’s too damn cute. Bailey keeps calling her “Wilson” and gives all of her attention to the wrong Karev. Until Jo consults Meredith and begs for help. This is where she stands up for herself and demands Bailey focus on their partnership.
Meredith is still working with the matchmaker patient and regrets agreeing to help. In the end, the matchmaker figures out that Meredith is closed off… which is obvious to all viewers tuning in. Instead of going inside out, the matchmaker has to go outside in. By episode’s end, Meredith goes shopping and invites her kids for a fashion show before bed time.
(Meredith and DeLuca also share looks). Hmmm
Maggie is dealing too much. That poor lonely soul. She has to keep Teddy’s secret and taking it out on Owen while also dealing with Jackson’s absence of leave. WTF?! Where did that guy go and why didn’t he talk to Maggie first? He just left without saying anything. As a viewer, I’m mad and so is she! You don’t do that to people!
Before she even found out about Jackson though, Maggie sent Dr. Link after Amelia to get her away from Owen… because of the whole Teddy situation. Dr. Link is an ‘okay’ character to me, but I’m warming up to him alongside Dr. Webber.
Dr. Webber and Alex Karev butt heads in this episode because salt! When the drunk teacher situation appeared, it made Webber obligated to have the man admit what he did. This forced Karev to put his foot down and order his former mentor out of the operating room. In the end, they are on the fence with each other, but it opens up a weird friendship for Webber and Link.
Amelia and Owen are so cute! They’re finally at that good place with each other and the kids! Yes, they are starting to get used to their little family! Everything is perfect for the shit storm that Teddy Altman will reign on them. Oh how fun!
Oh… Glasses and Dr. Kim…. shirtless scenes are always welcomed.
Sister moments were on point this week too. Amelia is dirty with the sex talk, Maggie is too overbearing with the secret, and Meredith just wants to learn how to date again.
Comment if you want to discuss what might happen moving forward! Station 19 season 2 premiere post will be coming shortly…
