Hello, everyone! My D&D Group made it to the season two finale of our HERO Campaign. Last we left off, K-Krew plus WIFI (Kai-Ku’s new character) passed Phase 1 of the HERO License Exam. They had entered the Prison Tower with their maps, and now they awaited the rest of the nine participants who will arrive. Since there were only twelve maps out there, and K-Krew had gotten three, there would be nine coming for this Phase 2.
K-Krew meeting the participants was a fun role-playing experience. I know I listed them above, but here’s the refined list below to make sure y’all know who was actually partaking in this HERO License Exam:
1. Hisoka
2. Rukia
3. Gundam, Model R
4. Gilda Snow
5. Rayla the Assassin
6. Old Man August
7. Sasori
8. Two Dai Li Agents in Cloaks
Once everyone gathered and stopped messing with each other, Phase 2 was about to begin. Mister Skinny Skinny Biscuit explained that six prisoners—the three Urameshi Bandits, Professor Gear, Doctor Petrelli, and the most dangerous prisoner Goki—were set loose in Prison Tower. The main objective was for the twelve participants to capture a prisoner and bring them to the fourth floor—the rooftop—of Prison Tower. This meant only six participants could pass Phase 2. Six people were guaranteed to fail.
K-Krew + WIFI decided to join forces, wanting to capture the Urameshi Bandits because they were the weakest out of the six prisoners. While hunting down prisoners on the first floor, K-Krew had run-ins with Hisoka, Gundam, Model R, Rukia, Gilda, and one familiar prisoner named Professor Gear. K-Krew and Professor Gear hadn’t seen each other since season 1. All these encounters were either fighting, escaping, or capturing—or a combination of all three. The first floor was cleared with K-Krew capturing Professor Gear and a bandit, but they ended up giving Hisoka Professor Gear to leave them the hell alone.
The second floor had K-Krew deal with Gilda, Old Man August, Rayla the Assassin, and Rukia (again). Gilda had a prisoner—one of the Urameshi Bandits—but she acted like a crying little baby in front of her older brother Killion. In the end, Killion decided to ditch her, but he had a feeling he’d be seeing her again since he “allowed” her to keep the prisoner. This left only two Urameshi Bandits, Doctor Petrelli, and the dangerous prisoner Goki. However, Sasori stood in their way of reaching the third floor. He had captured the strongest prisoner and made him his puppet, wanting to test his new toy against K-Krew.
Sasori put up a good fight, but K-Krew and Gundam’s intense gunfire defeated him. They technically should’ve killed Sasori with Gundam’s finisher fire bullet, but his puppet-nature allowed him to survive a fiery beheading. They tied Sasori up and headed up to the third floor, where more danger awaited them. Immediately, they ran into Old Man August and Rayla the Assassin, having been ordered by the Great Gilgamesh to stop K-Krew from passing the HERO License Exam.
Gundam told Old Man August to give Gilgamesh a message: STOP BEING SO BOTHERED BY KIDS AND FACE K-KREW HIMSELF. Killion added curse words to this message. WIFI was not involved, but he did fight when the conflict escalated. Rukia was following and helped out too, having grown an attachment to K-Krew at this point due to Killion’s Charm Person. In the end, Old Man August and Rayla the Assassin weren’t able to fulfill Gilgamesh’s will. K-Krew proceeded onward to encounter the two cloaked participants: two Dai Li Agents. Having just finished fighting without rest, K-Krew were officially sick and tired of Gilgamesh coming after them for no reason. Killion rolled a NAT 20 to make them scared, ensuring that the message would get to Gilgamesh.
By the time K-Krew and Rukia reached the fourth floor, everyone had a prisoner and passed Phase 2 of the HERO License Exam. On the fourth floor, they were greeted by Tyler Tatum, their former classmate from HERO Academy. He was now a HERO Captain Substitute sent to greet the participants for a job well done. Aside from K-Krew, there were three other individuals with them: Rukia, Hisoka, and Gilda. The other six didn’t pass Phase 2. Gundam was disappointed that Model R ended up failing, but he was also okay with it at the same time.
K-Krew didn’t remember their former classmate, Tyler Tatum. They made fun of his blindness like they knew him, but they didn’t remember him. After Tyler Tatum returned the prisoners back to their cells, he introduced the Hero Captain-Commander Nero—a combination of Nero and All Might—to greet the participants in one-on-one interviews. I thought this was one of the funniest things that happened in the session.
Everyone gave interesting answers to “Why do you want to be a hero? Who do you find most interesting out of the six participants? And who would you rather not fight?” The last question K-Krew answered, Hisoka. Killion actually answered Gundam because those bullets would take him out in one or two turns.
After the interviews were over, Captain-Commander Nero officially announced the Final Phase—Tournament Style. The only difference in this type of tournament was the only the loser would advance to the next round rather than the winner. This meant whoever made it to the “Champion spot” would fail the HERO License Exam. Only one person will fail out of the six. In addition, there was a no killing rule implemented and someone had to verbally surrender in order for the match to end. Here are the pairings:
1. Hisoka vs Gundam
2. Rukia vs WIFI
3. Gilda vs Killion
Hisoka and Gundam had an interesting fight. Gundam didn’t think he’d win, but he was going to try anyway. Hisoka’s bubble gum tricks and rapid card tosses were overwhelming, but Gundam managed to win once Hisoka surrendered. Hisoka wanted to play with “bunny people next”, as he wanted to advance to the next round for more entertainment. Gundam won the round and officially passed the HERO License Exam.
Rukia proved herself an excellent swordswoman with stellar Ice Breath Techniques, pressuring WIFI into being knocked unconscious. She used Spare The Dying Spell to make him wake up and surrender. WIFI was not looking forward to fighting Hisoka next.
Killion and Gilda had an interesting brother-sister fight over their father Gilgamesh and his status as The King of Epic Heroes. Gilda Snow had the ability to shoot energy spears, which worked similarly to Killion’s portal swords. Gilda also had a secret bonus action technique known as “Gilda Lightning!” which put Killion on the edge of death. As a result, Killion had to use the Talk No Jutsu in order to reach his sister’s feelings. A nicely timed NAT 20 roll saved him from having to surrender. Gilda realized her “daddy” was not who he seemed through her brother’s words and her own ruthless actions, making herself surrender. Killion won the round and passed the HERO License Exam.
Whoever lost in the match against Hisoka and WIFI would have to face Gilda. WIFI utilized his best magic techniques—Spiritual Guardian and Spiritual Carrot Barrage—against Hisoka’s pedophilic actions, but in the end, Hisoka beat WIFI down hard.
Hisoka also surrendered the match to WIFI, patting him on the head for a job well-done. He also gave WIFI a button with a clown logo on it, saying to return it to him once WIFI can land a solid hit on him. WIFI mumbled that he couldn’t hit things. Hisoka smiled and walked away. WIFI passed the HERO License Exam, leaving only Hisoka and Gilda left in the finals. Everyone watched Hisoka brutalize Gilda’s throat, making her unable to speak. Eventually, Captain-Commander Nero intervened and declared Hisoka the winner. Hisoka was annoyed, but he knew Nero was way stronger and relented. This was the first hint of Nero’s true MIGHT.
The five participants who passed: Killion, Gundam, WIFI, Rukia, and Hisoka. Gilda Snow had failed. Killion felt bad for her, having grown an interest in her because Gilda was actually raised by Gilgamesh in his home while Killion wasn’t. He wished her the best when she saw Gilgamesh again. K-Krew also officially allowed WIFI to join their team. Hisoka also had some information for Gundam regarding Model R’s mission and purpose for being in the HERO License Exam.
Hisoka explained that Gundam’s homeworld—Cybertron—was in the midst of a savage war that could destroy the planet itself. Since Gundam had amnesia backstory, he made the decision to travel there in order to save his homeworld. WIFI and Killion chose to help, but WIFI wanted to save his hometown next. Gundam agreed, and they relayed this to Cent Kelsier when he picked them up on the Waverider. Roshi and his sister Lily were also on-board, having been itching for another adventure with PRO HEROES. K-KREW OFFICIALLY HAD THEIR HERO LICENSES. What a way to end season 2 and set-up our upcoming season 3. Thanks so much for reading our adventure! PLUS ULTRA!
