Dungeons and Dragons ("DnD"): Hoard of the Dragon Queen: Episode 3.94 Adventure #24
Date of Session: October 29th, 2019 (5:00pm to 8:00 pm)
Number of Players: 3
Legendary Hero Menos (Dragon-born Paladin)
Kai-tick, Kin-slayer and “Servant” (Aarakocra Rogue)
XerX, the “X” Archer and “Master” (NOBLE Half-Elf Ranger)
Lord Eggza was defeated, the Ginyu Games cancelled, and all it took was a new lair filled with the ghosts of all their victims, including all the victims Kai-tick bragged about in his background. The Enforcers are back together, and doing crazy things again. Kai-tick isn’t sure they should do the Ginyu Games anymore because he doesn’t see them surviving it. Menos and XerX agree to do “Plan E” when the time was right. As DM, I actually had no idea what they were talking about, but I’m sure it related to taking down Lord Eggza to avoid fighting him in the future.
Picking up where we left off last session, the Enforcers finally destroyed the Beast and found the Greenest Castle reconstructed into their base of operations. Everything they asked Vin to include when he was simply their genie: their rooms, weapons vault, etc. However, the million ghosts living inside was not the least bit amusing. Also, as a side effect of XerX and Kai-tick not taking the door back home through the Time Chamber, the underground training fields flashes them all through time and displacing them in infinite space. Effectively, the Enforcers were trapped in an endless loop until XerX and Kai-tick return to Phandalin-2 and return properly using the Time Chamber.
The two of them successfully achieved this task, but run into two other… children. Kai-tick and XerX meet their time-displaced offspring: Carp Carp Jr (“CJ”) and Azula. They have no idea how to respond to their presence. CJ explains that their mother, Mirna-2, had two children—twins—to compensate the involvement of two fathers. CJ was Kai-tick’s biological son. Azula was XerX’s biological daughter. However, CJ and Azula both see XerX and Kai-tick as their fathers equally.
Kai-tick and XerX avoid talking to them because Lord Eggza returns to Greenest and greets the Enforcers. The Ginyu Games are scheduled to happen tomorrow, but Lord Eggza arrived early to figure out what’s going on with Ginyu and his Ginyu Force. He requests Menos’ presence for a drink at the local tavern, but Menos tries his hardest, without angering the Frieza character, to get out of the arranged plan. However, he merely indirectly ropes Kai-tick and XerX into the plans as well. They believed they would die soon.
The Enforcers discover Lord Eggza had visited the tavern earlier, killing everyone inside except the waitress. The same waitress who waited on Menos and Mas O a few sessions ago. She is frightened and will do anything Lord Eggza asks, which includes preparing a live lobster in a bowl. Lord Eggza forced the Enforcers to push corpses off their chairs to gain seats. XerX and Kai-tick try to feign the raw smell bothering them, but the trickery merely tests Lord Eggza’s patience.
Somehow through the power of persuasion rolls, XerX and Kai-tick slip out of Lord Eggza’s presence. Menos, however, was not so lucky to escape. He actually hated it.
Through a series of manipulations though, Kai-tick activated “Plan E” once they were outside with nobody around. Kai-tick revealed the kryptonite, weakening Lord Eggza, and everyone proceeded to attack. Menos shoved his own kryptonite shard up his ass, but he couldn’t scream because Kai-tick shoved his piece into the mouth, clogging up both ends. Kai-tick grappled him, Menos dug deeper into the ass, and XerX prepared arrow to bow. He pulled the string back, rolled that NAT 20, and fired that arrow into Lord Eggza’s heart. Then, XerX stared into Lord Eggza’s eyes before poking those out.
Lord Eggza tried to heat vision XerX before the half-elf could shame further, but XerX rolled a NAT 20 dexterity saving throw like a champ. XerX dealt the finishing blow to Lord Eggza, the Captain-Commander of the Golden Dawns Squad and all the other 12 squads, including the Black Bulls. XerX executed one of the most greatest NPCs in the multiverse.
Kai-tick, Menos, and XerX debate what to do afterwards. Menos wants to destroy the body, but when they try to do that, the body survives. Lord Eggza’s invulnerability was still in effect. Not being able to blow it up or eat it using Corpse Eater, Kai-tick’s sword, they stuff Lord Eggza into the bag of holding. Then, they run into Bex Ginyu, who saw everything. She refuses to keep her mouth shut, but the Enforcers beg her to stay still. They can’t let Lord Eggza’s death be publicly known for obvious reasons.
Bex Ginyu initially agrees and accompanies the Enforcers back to their new castle base. They want to check on their kids and Lina. The Enforcers also have to banish the ghosts of their past victims, including everyone Kai-tick killed in his background. They find Vin also inside doing something with Azula and Bex Ginyu inside the underground training grounds. The door that normally would open is closed however. XerX guesses that these ghosts are keeping them out.
They fight the spirits and make it to XerX’s workshop, where they find the one-armed Tiffany looking through things. They kick him out of the workshop because they don’t want him to know about Lord Eggza being dead. Kai-tick is freaking out about ghosts, and what Vin’s doing to Azula and Bex Ginyu. Also, Lina and CJ are in the room.
These developments happened pretty quickly… and maybe out of order based on my memory alone. Anyway, Kai-tick freaks out about “co-parents” with Lina. He thought Lina’s child was his too, but she reminds him about Seto and Mokuba, their “children”.
The Enforcers have come a long way from episode 1 in this campaign. It’s pretty hilarious looking back and remembering how all this started. Lina’s character was never intended to live or become this important in the storyline. Menos and Lina have the most complex relationship. The red string of love connects them, but Menos only agrees to it because it gives him power-ups faster.
After the workshop, the Enforcers decide to break into the door. They fight through the ghosts, and attack Vin in his Menos form when they arrive at the secret entrance. Vin is adamant on stopping them, and transforms into the Paladin of Dark Dragon, a reverse Menos’ transformation. The Enforcers also transform: White Dragon Ritual, the Fusion Dance, and Bankai.
Parts of their new castle are destroyed in the process, but they manage to break inside the training grounds, where they started the whole session. Vin escapes but leaves his dragon behind to fight off the Enforcers. Kai-tick finishes the dragon off, and joins the others down the stairs. They free Bex Ginyu and Azula from their trance, where Ginyu found his way back. Bex’s status is truly unknown. Around this point, Ginyu leaves the Enforcers to rejoin his Ginyu Force and update Lord Eggza on the Games, not aware of Lord Eggza’s death of course.
The Enforcers help Azula recover, who has no memory why she was down there. XerX and his daughter have an awkward moment. She shows affection seeing him, but he doesn’t know how to response to her. While they managed to beat Vin, their ex-genie turned main villain, the ghosts he left behind are still a serious problem. There wasn’t much options left to consider… until Lord Eggza made his return as a Ghost. Post-death, he was sent to the Castle to join their other victims in the trapped existence.
The players didn’t think about that possibility, but it made sense. Lord Eggza is a powerful ghost who absorbed all the other ghosts into him once he realized how he could benefit from this problem. The Enforcers also learned his older brother, Huevos, was showing up town for the Ginyu Games, a being even stronger than Lord Eggza himself.
Lord Eggza’s spirit being around was an issue that also worked in the Enforcers’ very best interest. They promised to resurrect Lord Eggza in exchange for no-kill protection for the crime they did against him, Greenest’s safety, and they want to be an official sub-squad of the Black Bulls. What they were supposed to win in the Ginyu Games. Lord Eggza was stubborn, but he gave into their demands as long as he came back to life. He instructed them to search for Tiffany, who knew of a Great Wizard who could perform the spell.
After a short search, the Enforcers found Nurse Joy instead. She performed the spell, but a sacrifice was needed. The Enforcers originally wanted to take Ginyu, but he had bailed. They went out and kidnapped a Goblin for the Resurrection. Nurse Joy, as Ten the Wizard was unavailable, performed the Resurrection. Lord Eggza returned naked as Menos stole his American clothes.
Lord Eggza honors his word, cancels the Ginyu Games, and promotes The Enforcers into an official sub-squad under his command. Menos asks if they’re cool, and Lord Eggza is skeptical but not in the killing mood. Menos takes that as a fucked-up yes. Lord Eggza’s brother Huevos is someone that even Lord Eggza is slightly afraid of. He takes his leave soon afterward, telling the Enforcers that XerX will be an official Lieutenant, second-in-command. Menos requests that he be the Colonel, which Lord Eggza says, “sure”. They have the rest of the day to make arrangements before their first mission:
“Follow The Cult of the Dragon, Mas O’s main army, and uncover the next Dragon Eggs”.
It’s time to get back to hunting the Dragon Eggs. The Water Egg is with Bubbly Mike Gee, the Wind Egg is with Seto and Mokuba. Those kids are under the protection of the KND: Kids Next Dimension. The “Green” Egg, element unknown, is with Mirna and Overlord.
Three Dragon Eggs have been located. Six more Eggs are left somewhere in this D&D campaign.
Will the Enforcers succeed and recover the rest before the Dragon Queen Tiamet gets released from Ninth Hell? Find out next time on episode 4 of Hoard of the Dragon Queen.
