Digimon Adventure REBOOT Episode 40 "Strike! The Killer Shot" Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
This was another filler episode, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Episode 40—“Strike! The Killer Shot”—readdressed Sora’s love for soccer in addition to her motherly nature. The episode may have also hinted at the Tai-Sora romance as well, but that could just be me projecting my feelings about it from the original series. There were many funny character interactions from Matt, Izzy, Joe, and Mimi as well. Kari and TK were playing the whole time, which was super cute.
The animation for Sora and Biyomon’s evolution / fight scene to Garudamon and Shadow Wing was incredible. Toei Animation loves to use their budget only for certain moments, but it’s amazing when they pull it off. Sora is one of my favorite characters, but the series hasn’t delivered the best writing or development for her until now. Honestly, that fight is probably one of the best ones yet. Garudamon was looking so sick!
The flashback to Sora and Tai playing soccer as little kids had a similar vibe to the original series’ Sora-centric crest of love episode. The present day opening scene with everyone is a nice change of pace as well. Having everyone together again helps the reboot so much. Please do not separate them again. Please, Digimon Writers.
Overall, I had a fun time watching this episode. Thank you all so much for reading this episode review. I’ll see you all next time in the Digital World.
