Fate/Zero Volume 2 Manga Review
Major Spoilers are included in this manga review. Please read with caution.
Summary: In Fuyuki City, seven Masters have summoned beings called Servants, heroic spirits of historic figures, summoned to the present day to fight to the death in order to obtain the Holy Grail, the ultimate prize. Kiritsugu Emiya, the main protagonist, has summoned Saber to fight for him, but she feels uneasy regarding their relationship and accompanies Irisviel, his wife, to Fuyuki.
Volume 2 picks up where Volume 1 left off, with Saber and Lancer about to battle each other honorably. I enjoyed reading this fight scene because it’s one of my favorites in Fate/Zero, but the gorgeous art couldn’t match Ufotable animation. The exposition in people’s heads was also wonky at times and a mouthful to read. There was too much reading and not enough admiring of the art. The manga followed the anime way too closely when it came down to the exposition.
The amount of info-dumping is worse in the manga than in the anime. That’s the gist.
Overall, the anime is superior. I don’t have much else to say because I covered my main thoughts in my anime reviews (season 1 and season 2). Saber’s character design is very sweet though. I enjoy her suit attire so much. I’ll see you all later when I finish Volume 3!
