The Promised Neverland Season 2 Episode 3 Anime Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
Synopsis: By the end of season one, Emma, Ray, and their 13 siblings escape Grace Field House, a false paradise, hoping for a chance at freedom. Instead, they encounter plants and animals they have never seen before, and are chased by demons. The outside world is so beautiful, but also cruel. However, Emma and the others refuse to give up. They are guided in their search for better lives by a message from Minerva and a pen Norman left behind in order to fulfill their promise to return to the Grace Field House to save those of their family—like Phil—who are still trapped within. Do they have what it takes to claim their happy endings?
Hey Promised Neverlanders,
The Promised Neverland Season 2 Episode 3 started the transition into their next arc. However, the transition will either go into the “Search for Minerva Arc” or an anime-exclusive arc based on how things are being changed up from the manga. Initially, I worried that the anime was going to rush the story to reach “Goldy Pond Battle Arc”. Based on the ending, the lack of [SPOILER] being inside the shelter, and the lack of foreshadow from Mujika that was in the manga, ‘the anime series is gearing up for potentially uncharted territory. At least this means “Goldy Pond Battle Arc” is being reserved for season 3 (hopefully).
Thank the anime Gods.
The kids exploring the empty shelter was a great sequence of joy and comfort. After everything they’ve been through, they all deserved to shower in hot water. We must claim Happiness whenever the opportunity arises. That’s what 2020 taught us to do anyway. It also taught me to Proper Noun, “Happiness”.
I did like how Sonju went off about hunting “wild humans” someday. I don’t recall if it was in the manga, but his “thirst for humans” rant stole my attention wholeheartedly because I was expecting Mujika to foreshadow the important plot point. Three episodes with them is enough in hindsight though. I don’t mind “The Promised Forest Arc” being only a three-episode arc. That’s honestly understandable. Excluding the important foreshadow might not be understandable, but we’ll see where the anime goes from here on out. To give y’all more context: manga writer Kaiu Shirai is involved in the “original anime content”, which may be coming sooner than we expected based on what I had brought to the table in the episode review. So, this next episode will determine whether season 2 will be really good or really questionable. Maybe it’ll be both.
Thank you, Promised Neverlanders, for reading my episode review, and my thoughts on where the anime might be going next based on that “William Minerva” cliffhanger.
I, for one, am excited to claim my happy ending. How about y’all?
Yeah! Let’s claim our happy endings! I’ll see you all next week!
