Digimon Adventure REBOOT Episode 13 “Garudamon of the Crimson Wings” Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
The latest Digimon Adventure Reboot episode almost felt like a filler episode due to the little plot momentum happening, but we were given more Sora so that was awesome and worthwhile. Going off what we saw in episode 11—the WereGarurumon episode—I’m really glad we saw more of Sora’s caring nature as its own thing rather than a barrier to Matt’s character development.
While I’m still upset about Tai and Matt getting their own Digivolution sequences, the crimson fire glow for Piyomon’s Digivolution was still pretty outstanding. Despite getting snubbed on the fancy sequences, Piyomon digivolving into Birdramon and then later Garudamon is still incredibly gorgeous. Sora deserved all the love in this episode.
The episode also did a nice job making Joe Kido the Damsel in Distress the whole time and giving Sora the hero spotlight. Also, Sora is freakishly strong for being able to catch and carry Joe and Gomamon with one hand while using the other hand to hold onto Birdramon’s leg. Girl Power! I also liked how Sora’s crest of love activated when she declared how she wanted to save everyone from the enemy Digimon—CannonBeemon.
Similar to what Tai did in the previous episode though, Matt had the potential to steal the spotlight from Sora when he digivolved Garurmon further into WereGarumon, but he chose to follow her lead instead.
Speaking of Tai, he and the others were shown traveling on the other side for a few minutes in the episode. Izzy was having issues connecting his computer to the Network, so we couldn’t get an update on what’s been happening in Tokyo. Since Izzy is the next kid to get his Ultimate Digimon, I believe the computer issues are foreshadow for a bigger plot point next week.
Overall, this was a fantastic episode for Sora. I’m honestly thinking the plot isn’t going to move as quickly as I would like until Kari and TK join the team at some point. I feel like their official introduction into the series will be a serious gamechanger for the reboot’s plot because their Digimon are Holy Digimon—the Digimon the DigiDestined are trying to rescue right now. What do y’all think about my fan theory?
Let me know and also thanks for reading this episode review! I’ll see you all in the Digital World next week!
