The God of High School Episode 10 “oath/meaning” Anime Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
The God of High School delivered an action-driven episode, with all the story elements coming together to bring the tournament down. The episode broke down Nox—a cult dedicated to one God and denounces all others—and their intentions to stop GOH and kill all the Charyeok-users for borrowing power from “false Gods”. Once Jin Mori, Han Daewi, and Yoo Mira learned about this group and why they kidnapped Jin Taejin, Jin Mori became more determined than ever to win GOH.
The episode also took the time to explore Park IIpyo’s reasons for entering the God of High School tournament and the promise he made to Jin Taejin with flashback scenes. There was also confirmation that Park IIpyo is the Key Nox—and Jegal Taek—have been looking for. The Naruto vibes were real with that reveal. Knowing what these boys were fighting for made their battle on the arena more satisfying to watch.
The animation for their fight scene and the Commissioner vs Nox fight scenes also topped last week’s Jin Mori Rampage. The action sequences are brutal, quick, concise—which made Han Daewi’s fight against IIpyo’s teammate Seungah a short one—and the animation did excellent work on carrying the emotional impacts throughout the episode. I had a good time watching the gorgeous animation. The God of High School is fast approaching its endgame for the season.
Overall, The God of High School did get slightly confusing when it tried to cram all those story elements and characters together in the episode and charged them with a fast pace, but they served the purpose of setting up what’s to come. I’m honestly not a fan of how the writers and animators approached The God of High School’s anime adaptation, but it has been a fun ride nonetheless with everything we’ve gotten so far. The series seems ready to close out their first season in the next couple episodes.
Thanks for reading my episode review, everyone! I’ll see you all next week!
