The God of High School Episode 6 “Fear / SIX” Anime Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
The God of High School’s latest episode finally delivered much-needed exposition and context for what’s been happening in the last five episodes while also carving the path for the “Nationals Arc” at the same time. After constant fight scenes—which were hit-or-misses—since the anime debuted, it was refreshing to have an episode where the plot was getting a proper set-up.
In this episode, there was solid world-building, more expansion on Nox and The Six, hints at what’s to come in the National Tournament, and a few quiet character moments with Yoo Mira. Although the series was late with this information, at this point, I’m just grateful it showed up to set the table. Jin Mori also acted exceptionally Goku throughout this episode, and that’s always a plus in my book. Han Daewi was also given screen time with Park Mujin, wanting to know exactly what’s been going on behind the scenes with this God of High School tournament.
The God of High School tournament—Nationals—was also converted into team matches, which allowed our protagonists to participate together. As a result, Yoo Mira—behaving like Sakura from Naruto—began to question her place on the team and if she was truly worthy of moving forward with Han Daewi and Jin Mori. Jin Mori’s backstory was explored in this episode too.
Hopefully, the next couple episodes don’t rush things like the first five episodes did regarding the fight scenes. As a Webtoon reader, I will not divulge on what I mean—for now—but there are some amazing characters being introduced into the story right now. This episode was amazing for delivering exposition and connecting it to this “Key” that the Judges and Nox are interested in. Thanks for reading this episode review, everyone! I’ll see you all next week for the Nationals’ first round!
