unOrdinary “Corruption Arc” (Episode 180 through Episode 185) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this Webtoon Review. Please read with caution.
On June 17, 2020, unOrdinary’s “Corruption Arc” concluded. I have been reading this Webtoon series weekly since I caught up, so I hadn’t realized this arc—only five episodes— had ended. I hadn’t written an unOrdinary review post in a while, so it wasn’t actively on my radar.
The “Corruption Arc”—the third story arc of season two—centered around Seraphina contacting Claire—an old friend of John’s—in the hopes of finding a way to understand John’s current aggression. This resulted in a flashback arc regarding Claire’s friendship with John, how he developed his powers with her help, and what led to what happened at New Bostin High School. The explanation behind John’s powers was nice!!
I did enjoy this arc for finally giving us the whole context on how John became the overpowered bully he is today at Wellston Private High School. It was also an effective method for Claire to tell her side of the story in order to see how John went from cripple nice guy to power-hungry King that had no regard for his friends. While I did sympathize with John’s struggles and his views on the social hierarchy, his approach eventually became corrupted and similar to the people he opposed. Bottomline: John was being a hypocrite, too blind to see the error of his ways.
The ending of the arc had me thinking about what will happen once Seraphina regains her powers. She might have to fight John—and win—in order to save him from himself. I really want John and Seraphina to work things out, but they are truly heading toward the road of no return. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next for the two of them.
Also, since it had been awhile since I wrote an unOrdinary review post, I’d like to point out how amazing this series actually is. The writing, artwork, fight scenes, and character development have been top-notch since I started reading this Webtoon series. Thanks for reading my unOrdinary reviews, everyone. I really do appreciate it.
