Genshin Impact “Chapter 6: Wind and Fyre” (Part 1 + Part 2) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this Webtoon Review. Please read with caution.
On October 13, 2020, I started and finished Genshin Impact Webtoon’s Chapter 6: Wind and Fyre. The chapter followed up on Jean saving Amber as they face off against a powerful monster after Amber’s artifact. I enjoyed the artwork on their unison attack—the namesake of the chapter—and how they combo attacked to defeat the monster. Amber is easily becoming the main protagonist with how silly she is, which makes Jean act less serious as a result.
The artwork on Jean’s elemental burst is beautiful, and the video game animated that attack with such justice. It’s one of my favorite moves in the entire game. Reading the Webtoon is making me so happy to be playing the video game, and lowkey angry that Amber and Jean don’t have that combo move available in the video game. Amber would be so much better if she had that combo move with Jean—or at least more useful beyond the story mode.
The character interactions are becoming more common in this Webtoon series, which is refreshing given that there hadn’t been too many of them until Amber became our main protagonist. Basically, not every interaction is connected or moving the plot anymore, so that’s nice. Jean’s character is also getting developed—subtlety—through her interactions with Amber and Lisa, showing that she does have a lighthearted side.
The cliffhanger with mysterious young girl and Kaeya was pretty fascinating to say the least. When Kaeya asked, “What’s your name?”—putting the pieces together with her and the black fire incident—I was pretty excited to say the least. I have been wondering about her name for the longest time, but none of the characters bothered to ask her. The writer gave us all this background on mysterious young girl except the name. Here I thought Yami Yugi—Atem—was the only character with such a background.
Overall, I’m excited to keep on reading with Genshin Impact Webtoon! The story is finally getting somewhere now that we have an established main character—Amber—a few consistent supporting characters like Jean and Lisa, and a more centered mystery plot regarding the mysterious young girl. I can’t wait to learn her name.
Thanks for reading this Webtoon review, everyone! Let’s keep it reading!
