Grey's Anatomy 15x24 "Drawn to the Blood" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
Wow. This one-hour was crazy and a well-written penultimate episode that had many cliffhangers on all storylines ahead of the season finale. Alex Karev was waiting on the real donor from London for Gus, Owen and Levi have to convince said donor to commit and not back-out in the middle of a dangerous fog, Bailey and Catherine are meeting with suits, but nobody knows why, Jo and Meredith spend the day in bed, Jackson and Maggie are camping (boring as hell), Amelia and Link discuss where their romance is going, and Teddy is going into labor / realizes she might want to be with Owen!!!
Bonkers, right? Let’s tackle one story at a time.
The London donor. Owen and Levi are trying to calm a patient whose terrified of bad things happening around her. It took convincing to get her to agreed to travel across country, but after her therapist is detained, she panics all over again (the donor has a condition). The singing did help defuse some tension in this scene, humor is needed sometimes, but it was Owen who ultimately convinced her to travel so she help a kid. Then, the cars crashing outside put us back into that panic mode. DON’T OPEN THAT DAMN DOOR, OWEN!
Bailey and Catherine are being mysterious about the topic of the meeting with the suits. Everyone had their guesses, but it was ultimately the predictable one: Meredith’s fraud insurance claim, the one I said would bite her in the ass before this season ended. When DeLuca learns about the situation, being the good guy that he is, he takes the blame and protected her.
Reminds me of what he did for Jo in Season 13 when he dropped the charges on Alex to protect her. Andrew DeLuca does heroic selfless things for the people he cares about. I hope he doesn’t go to jail, but Meredith is stuck in the chamber with Alex when he took the fall.
But let’s rewind to Jo and Meredith in bed. Meredith checks on Jo at her house and gets in her bed to talk. Jo wants her to leave, but eventually, she does open up to Meredith in the harshest way (rape child). Honestly, I was like “Meredith’s got this”, and the woman had a perfect response to Jo’s truth. Meredith reminded Jo how strong she is, and how she turns all the darkness into light.
Meredith even shares with Jo about her drowning incident from season three and how she chose not to fight. Jo gave Meredith the funniest look hearing that. I was not ready, and cried. Meredith Grey is an icon at this point, and I love it. This is good television.
Jackson and Maggie are boring as hell. Whenever their scenes came up, I kept thinking “go back to anything but this”. They have no chemistry and compared to everything else, they had the least stakes / drama.
After Amelia’s indecision about Link, she and Teddy get to talking, which shows that Teddy really wants Owen… what is going on here? Koracick deserves better than this. Anyways, Teddy goes into labor, but luckily Amelia’s there to help her. The fresh take Grey’s took to these love triangles is highly amusing.
Season 15 Finale is going to be nuts.
