Good Trouble 1x12 "Broken Arted" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
All the storylines in this episode don’t matter. Callie and Gael still hot for each other? Who cares? Sumi still in love with Alice? Never cared but somehow I care less. Mariana getting to pitch to Evan. Okay I care, but at the moment I must say… irrelevant. Dennis’s last few minutes are heartbreaking and sort-of brings everything to a stop when Davia re-examines how he interacted with everyone in the final minutes of the episode.
The only character that matters is Dennis. He is in so much pain over his ex-wife’s harsh words about their son Jacob to the point he might’ve committed suicide, leaving behind a voicemail for his ex-wife Jennifer to hear. This puts all his interactions with The Coterie into perspective, hugging and reassurance—the tiny happiness in his eyes, Dennis does care but has no plans to see them ever again. I was crying, hoping, this wasn’t the end of a quick fan-favorite. I’m theorizing the show will save Dennis, and he’ll have to deal with the fallout next season.
There were loads of other things going on, but none of it matters. The episode was stuffed, and this tragedy overshadowed them easily. I can’t wait for the next episode, the season finale(?)… Ah!
