The Magicians 4x09 "The Serpent" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
The storylines are beginning to overlap and add into each other. Alice’s character is explored in the mirror world, Julia keeps getting interrupted whenever the Monster returns, Eliot returned to give Penny 23 that awful cliffhanger, and Quentin is… tagging along to make sure the Monster keeps his word. Margo is also updated on Eliot’s survival and gets dethroned by Fen, who is Fillory’s new High King.
Margo and Josh are extremely cute. I’m so happy they’re together. Julia and Penny 23 are getting it on too with dinner. The shipping on this show is addicting.
Plus, Harriet is freed from the mirror world and reveals the truth about The Library. The leader and Zelda’s mentor, Everett, is attacking hedge witches discreetly to make them afraid and submit under the rules of The Library. I like this arc, and I’m confident the writers will tie all the arcs together for the explosive finale. Whatever the truth about the monster’s memories are will likely shed some light.
Overall, how Margo left on that high note to save Eliot was beautiful, and allowing Fen to betrayed reframed the entire scene. I am pumped for the musical episode. Yes!
