The Flash 6x04 "There Will Be Blood" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
The Flash had a Halloween episode with appropriate horror tropes to properly introduce Rosso’s villainous Bloodwork, but it continued the strong pace of the previous episodes. This week’s episode also focused on the bonds between the primary characters as Crisis On Infinite Earths looms over everyone.
All the characters have accepted Barry’s Crisis fate on some level except Cisco. His denial and insistence on changing Barry’s fate was a major highlight of this week’s episode, as we’re reminded how close Barry and Cisco had gotten over the past six seasons. Cisco’s legit feelings about Barry seemed silly at first, but as the episode progressed, we learn how far Cisco will go to save his friend. And he’d do it again!
Bloodwork’s character development swings too far back and forth between sympathetic and madman. While he’s far superior to Cicada from season five and knowing Rosso will be done before Crisis starts does help though, I can’t help but notice the small things. He also resembles his other character Mohinder Suresh from the amazing hit series Heroes, and that might be a bad thing.
Killer Frost’s character is getting better. The duality of the two characters that I hate so much is gone, which helps me take her more seriously. I’m excited to see where her arc goes, but I hope we don’t get anymore “how to live life” moments because… no good.
Ralph and Iris was an unexpected pairing, but it helped push Ralph’s story about Sue Dearborn while tying in his feelings about Barry’s fate. Joe West gave him a pep talk, which helped Ralph realize that he needed to apologize to Iris for his jerk moment in response to her sincere help.
Nash Wells is my favorite Wells aside from Reverse Flash. His scenes with Cisco and Barry were amazing, and his role in Crisis On Infinite Earths is becoming clearer. Nash Wells may become Pariah after all based on that ending scene or have some connection to him. But, he’s likely going to be Pariah.
Joe West and Barry Allen’s ending scene had me in tears. I hope Joe survives until the end of the show as it’s real for a parent to make this long without dying. I was getting mad Joe wasn’t processing Barry’s fate, but then the show brought out this beautiful moment. I’m enjoying The Flash so much right now.
