Supernatural 14x07 "Unhuman Nature" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
The emotions ran high in this dramatic episode. Jack is dying and nobody knows how to save him. Castiel’s healing failed, the hospital obviously didn’t do much better. The hospital scene was a mix of funny and sadness. I can’t believe they went to a normal hospital after Castiel’s powers didn’t work to save Jack. Did they really think doing this would work?
The hospital scenes were comedy-gold. The questions about Jack and how they left the hospital were awkwardly humorous. We were in a dire situation and funniness kept negating the tension. At least until we got to the montage of Sam, Dean, and Castiel waiting around for the news.
The boys are devastated. Dean takes Jack’s condition the hardest. He takes Jack out on the road to help him live out his last days. I thought Dean was being really nice letting Jack drive Baby (Impala). In the past 14 seasons, Dean has never let anyone drive it without his explicit permission. NOT EVEN SAM!
Seeing Jack drive it was Dean’s grand gesture. But I was sold on the idea that Jack would crash the car after he slipped to the other lane. I enjoyed this scene a lot and was on the edge of my seat for no reason.
Even with Shaman and Rowena’s help, the boys make no progress in saving Jack and leave him in a worse state. I hate the Shaman for experimenting with Jack’s life. Rowena should’ve known about Jack already, but I’ll ignore it for the time being. I’m too worried about our boy.
Jack is a new character. We can’t lose him already. Especially with his father coming back.
You read that correctly. Nick went through a downward spiral. He is killing people left and right. Lucifer’s possession of him pushed him to the point of no return. After learning a demon killed his family, he prays to Lucifer and wishes he’d come back to possess him. This triggers Lucifer’s black-goo resurrection in The Empty (I had to look up what that was).
I’m unsure how I feel about this. Lucifer should’ve stayed dead.
Dean is also going through something. His blurriness and dizziness are definitely archangel-like side effects. Maybe Michael is hiding down there or left a part of himself inside Dean. It might be his way to possess Dean again without getting permission.
Next week should determine Jack’s fate.
