Supergirl 4x07 "Rather the Fallen Angel" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with Caution.
2/3 of the episode worked. Two out of three stories told. We got Supergirl and Manchester Black, Lena beginning her human experiments, and James Olsen going undercover with the Children of Liberty. The Manchester Black and Lena stories played out really well, but James Olsen sounded like a robot the entire time. I don’t know what happened there.
Lena and Adam (first human experiment) bonded over their losses. This worked a lot better than expected. It adds Lena’s development and how her reasoning is flawed when it comes to the anti-alien politics. When Lena kept mentioning the person she lost, my mind jumped to Supergirl or her belief in the superhero. I was wrong.
It was her biological mother. It made Lena more sympathetic, a sharp contrast from her usual cool demeanor.
James talked like a robot. It was so distracting. The writers have to write better dialogue or have the actor show some emotion. Either way, his story needs some work.
Manchester Black proves to be the perfect foil for Supergirl and Martian Manhunter. He is like The Punisher of the Arrowverse. I was confused on his flip-flopping throughout the episode. The team-up, then the betrayal, and then he helps her again. The Children of Liberty got their asses kicked. I liked the visual of Supergirl getting trapped by the chains.
Let’s see what happens in next week’s episode. Elseworlds is coming!
