The Good Place 3x04 "The Snowplow" Episode Review
Major spoilers are included in this episode review. Read with Caution.
What the fork? This show keeps surprising me but also not surprising me. I think it’s the pacing that’s getting me. While the pacing is good, it’s unexpectedly good. Like the escalation of the tension and how our four humans are progressing on Earth is well-crafted. The dialogue and Tahani’s one-liners were on point.
The Study Group is ready to end.
A year or so has passed since Michael and Janet jumped back to Earth to avoid The Judge’s punishment. Tahani is engaged to Larry Hemsworth, fictional brother of the Chris, Liam, and Luke, who feels insecure about being the “not famous” one. He is the perfect companion of Tahani, who is equally insecure about her sister.
Eleanor is not handling this well and tries to find excuses to keep the group together. Michael is also the same way, thinking they won’t earn their way to The Good Place if they split up. Janet is more willing to let them go, but Michael is too focused on the goal to even consider letting them roam around without each other.
Janet’s powers are no longer there on Earth, but her knowledge is intact. She uses it to get a bartender to leave, one of the greatest moments in the episode and overall series, I laughed out loud when she causally dropped the bombshells.
Eleanor’s speech goes awry when she tries to say goodbye, which leads to a heart to heart with Simone. She is also the perfect person for Chidi because Simone manages to break down why Eleanor lashed out like that. I hope Simone sticks around, she’s such a good addition to the cast.
The group agrees to meet once a year to keep each other on track. This satisfies Michael and Janet enough to have them go back to the Afterlife. They also plan to find the reset button for Earth’s timelines, which sounds like a stretch. Then I thought, “Sure, once a year meetings sounds cool. Let’s see how The Judge will punish our friends.”
THEN THE GANG WALKS UP AND SEES THE DOOR PORTAL!
Yup, things are getting out of control. Plot twists are the best when The Good Place does it.
