THERE WERE NO NEW NPCS INTRODUCED IN THIS SESSION.
Previously on D&D, the players were addicted to gambling their gold pieces to Assassins Ante for the sake of Gen Kai. Luckily for them, playing the high stakes game managed to pay off Gen Kai’s 15,000 debt to Gilgamesh. K-Krew won themselves a new teacher, they could trust with their impressionable education. With her assistance, K-Krew faced the insane Bran Whitey in order to rescue HERO Academy from further political corruption.
As a result of Superintendent Sakyo and Undercover PRO HERO Toguro’s setup…
K-Krew have officially dismantled the Enforcer Class System at HERO Academy. Kai-tick Red, XerX Yellow, and Menos Blue have been discarded to cleanse HERO Academy from its corrupted roots. Principal Kruger has been replaced with Gen Kai, former PRO HERO, and order will be restored to the student body. After seven episodes—seven sessions, it appears the players have found their footing in this campaign. In this session, the status quo will need to be reestablished, as the characters return to regular HERO classes with their favorite NPCs like Roshi Nighthill.
Throughout the weekend before Week 3 Classes start, Principal Gen Kai had officially demoted Kruger to housekeeper back at Urameshi City. Gen Kai’s also swamped with huge stacks of papers that Kruger neglected. K-Krew was summoned to the Principal Office to inform them about the new status quo.
They learn Toguro has grown interested in them, and he wishes to take them on as undercover hero interns. He sees potential in their Spirit Energy.
Gen Kai also suggests K-Krew watch after Regina and Jaime, the missing students who survived “The Surgeon Arc”. They agreed to help them with the trauma best they can.
K-Krew has to pass the mid-terms in order to qualify for HERO internships. They decide to study hard as the exam will consist of a written portion and a HERO situation portion. They will need a 75% average to pass the mid-term exams.
Throughout the three hour session, K-Krew studies and readjusts to the school setting in addition to their new living situation at the H.A. Dormitories.
Learning students are allowed to spar on the rooftop, Kai-Ku challenges Roshi to a match. Roshi accepts the match, wanting to show Kai-Ku how much stronger he’s gotten during the past week. All their dorm mates like Trudy, Lexi, Marvelous, Spook, Shane, etc. are in the audience with Killion and K-Gundam.
The fight between Kai-Ku and Roshi gets out of hand when they start fighting at 100% Power.
Kai-Ku discovers a new dark power as a result of this fight and acknowledges Roshi’s Spirit Energy as “Strong!” The two of them NAT 20 each other unconscious. They are taken to Nurse Kissey Kiss to recover. Nurse Kissey Kiss warns K-Krew that her power works less effective with each frequent visit. Kai-Ku is a stubborn patient, and leaves early with Killion and K-Gundam to study for the mid-terms. Roshi stays behind and sleeps out of pure exhaustion. Roshi and Kai-Ku gave it everything they had in a spar. Quite impressive.
K-Krew prepare for Monday Classes. Before they can start, Kai-Ku challenges the number one student Trudy next without fully healing from his fight against Roshi. Trudy uses her Uncle Mas O’s NAT 20 strike to end the fight early before homeroom. Kai-Ku promises to get stronger than Roshi and Trudy. He also gets an after school job with Baxter to make a few gold pieces. Killion is learning how to control his Spirit Energy work with Enkidu Owl, and K-Gundam is learning how to forge Armor.
Baxter upgraded K-Gundam’s Sniper, Killion’s Shot Gun, and fixed Kai-Ku’s Red Sentai (broken after his sparring match against Roshi). I enjoyed this session a lot. Despite a couple rough weeks into the semester / campaign, the players are finally able to have “reminder that we’re still kids” fun.
Classes with Professor Bon Bon and Mirna went smoothly. Combat Class with Professor Stoner Head was fist fighting to blow off steam. Killion won against Kai-Ku, Kai-Ku won against Roshi, and K-Gundam won against Shane Offender, the Kai-tick Fan Boy. Classes weren’t too bad for K-Krew after the past two weeks of Saving the World and Reforming HERO Academy without the Enforcer Class System.
This was a low-key session to ease the players back into HERO School Life. They had a lot of fun with rearranging their dorm rooms, breaking down the walls to make it all one big room. Gen Kai visited K-Krew at 2 in the morning on a school night, congratulating them for their Spirit Energy Progress. K-Krew add an interesting bargain to the mid-term exam arc: Whoever gets the highest score will win one on one time with Gen Kai. She agrees to the terms as long as everyone is fine with making the deal. They do.
I’m excited for the next session!! PLUS ULTRA!
