The God of High School Episode 12 “FOX / GOD” Anime Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
The God of High School episode 12 packed a lot of story elements and beautiful fight scenes into its 20-minute runtime. The experience was overwhelming and left those who hadn’t read the Webtoon with more questions than answers. The God of High School anime would’ve been so much better if it was given 20+ episodes for its first season instead of only a measly 13. This episode picked up on the cliffhanger from the last episode—IIpyo and Jegal fighting—and didn’t stop running until the episode was over.
The animation was indeed beautiful though, and the action sequences were awestriking to say the least. The most engaging aspect of this episode—the reason I couldn’t look away from the screen—was the gorgeous animation and consistent fight choreography, but the story lost control of its narrative. The Six, Jegal Taek, The Key, and the God in the Sky were left frustratingly unanswered, and a rewatch wouldn’t even help with finding the missing clues.
The God of High School is worth the watch for the animation alone, but reading the Webtoon will help you viewers with those unanswered questions regarding the story lore behind Nox, The Six, Jegal Taek, and The Key. Also, Han Daewi and Yoo Mira were snubbed in this episode—the entire season—and that irked me on a personal level. Those two deserved so much better in both the anime and the Webtoon series.
There’s only one more episode left in the first season, so my time writing The God of High School episode reviews will be coming to an end next week. At least for the time being. Let’s hope The God of High School gets renewed for a second season—a second chance to make things right for their fans. Thanks for reading this episode review, everyone! I’ll see you all next week to see Jin Mori “wow” us with something amazing.
I’m looking forward to that “wow”.
