unOrdinary “Fallout Arc” (Episode 156 through Episode 167) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this Webtoon Review. Please read with caution.
The first season two arc was a great payoff to the time I invested in unOrdinary. This arc dealt with the aftermath of Joker defeating the Royals in the season one finale. The whole social hierarchy was in shambles, and it led Fake Jokers rising to attack more students.
While Remi and Isen tried to rebuild the social hierarchy using her brother’s ideology and fighting the fake Jokers, Blyke decided to get stronger in order to beat John. Arlo and Seraphina bonded over John’s secret, and how she had been lied to this entire time. John and Cecile were plotting what to do next, since John had no interest in revealing himself or in stopping the Fake Jokers.
John had officially become the main antagonist at this point. He spiraled and lost his friendship with Seraphina, who had finally learned the truth about John being Joker. She was not happy about John’s lies and manipulations while John continued to take no responsibility for his actions.
Like at one point during this arc, John was furious about Seraphina and Arlo getting along—how she didn’t side with him—even though he was the one who lied to her. It reminded me of Walter White’s character development from Breaking Bad. Am I really supposed to keep rooting for this guy? What an interesting way to kick off season two.
Overall, this was a solid premise into unOrdinary’s second season. I’m almost caught up with the Webtoon series, and that really terrifies me. I don’t think I can tolerate reading unOrdinary only on a weekly basis.
