Tower of God Volume 3: “Kallavan vs White” (Episodes 43 and 44) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this Webtoon Review. Please read with caution.
On October 6, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 3’s twelfth story arc: “Kallavan vs White”. This short arc centered around White fighting against Kallavan while Khane went to wake her sister up from her imprisonment. The arc also centered around Team Baam—the original trio—fighting against Daleet, a commander of the wall guards. The latter battle mainly focused on Baam’s newest transformation though, which was oddly Dragon Ball Z.
White and Kallavan’s fight was drawn great, with great detail given to White’s swordsmanship and color scheme. I did like White’s acknowledgement that he couldn’t win the battle against Kallavan without Dowon’s help, and that was the reason why he asked Khane to wake her up—even though the goal was to not wake her up. Basically, the stakes in the fight were kind-of confusing—like both sides seemed determine to wake her, but they fought anyway—but the reasoning behind the fight wasn’t? Kallavan wanted to capture White alive though, so he can be reinstated as Commander.
Learning the key to waking up Dowon—Khane’s memories of her—was heartbreaking to say the least. This would mean that Khane would lose her memories of her sister, but she was willing to make the sacrifice for the sake of others. Khane’s comment about Dowon being cruel to her gave me concern, but at least Dowon’s awake.
The action in this arc was a great read, and it was a fast one too. I’m going to make this Webtoon review short, given that there wasn’t much happening other than the fight scenes, a transformation process that took after DBZ’stransformation process, and Dowon’s epic awakening. Thanks for reading this Webtoon review, everyone! Let’s keep it climbing up the Tower to see what happens next!
