Doom Patrol 1x07 "Therapy Patrol" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
Doom Patrol’s pace is interesting. Normally, I’d be kind of mad that it’s taking the team forever to rescue The Chief, but… all the character stories are too amazing. This show is really amazing. More people need to watch this series because it’s super comic book. This episode did have a slow momentum rolling those scenes dedicated to each character’s location / activities prior to group meeting, but the payout was 100% reason.
Vic / Cyborg’s Tinder-storyline was humorous turned tragedy. I’m so happy Doom Patrol has avoided the Justice League version because now I’m seeing how terrible it is. He’s starting to solidify his place in the team of misfits, and I’m pretty sure he’ll stick around past season one.
Larry’s storyline needs to advance past his struggles as a closest gay in the 60’s. I don’t think this episode added anything we already knew. It seemed more recap than actual new information.
Using Cliff’s malfunction at the end of every scene was great in adding suspense. He didn’t get much character development compared to the other members of the team, but the heartbreaking moments regarding his daughter… stupid hallucinations.
I have officially declared Jane as our main protagonist. She has a great character arc in the works, and seeing more personalities and the faith in The Chief wavering is one that’ll determine the team’s fight against Mr. Nobody.
Overall, terrific episode and fantastic series. They can take their time getting to the plot.
