The Flash 6x03 "Dead Man Running" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
The Flash has figured out its plot, pacing, and characters. For three weeks in a row, the show has shown us that they figured out what to do. Granted, they’re racing toward a crossover, Crisis On Infinite Earths, that will change up the Arrowverse as a whole.
Grant Gustin is also giving the best performance, treating everything like it truly is the end for him. While it takes Barry the whole episode to tell the team about his death in Crisis, the emotions behind his inability to are felt throughout the hour. Also, the show needs to pair Barry and Killer Frost more often. The chemistry is there for them, which might’ve been the reason why the writers kept them a part for such a long time. Snow-Barry fans out there?
Side note: I really enjoyed Killer Frost’s birthday party scene. We really needed that.
The new Harrison Wells is also introduced. This Wells goes by “Nash” and is an Indiana Jones type character. He’s also anti-Cisco like the other Wells. Nash has potential to be something on this show. Unlike Sherloque, easily the worst Wells introduced.
Cecile, Ralph, and his mother had the “funny” sub-plot that oddly worked out for them. I’m loving what the show’s done with Cecile’s story this season, and it’s only been three episodes. She’s quickly climbing my favorite’s list. Ralph and his mother showed a lot of what we’re expecting from Ralph this season… an actual story for him. He was used last season to push other people’s stories, but he didn’t have one of his own.
Ramsey Rosso is literally Mohinder Suresh from Heroes except metahumans and Evolved Humans. Although Rosso’s scenes with Barry about avoiding death were compelling and understanding. This episode helped refocus a lot of issues he had in the earlier episodes. He’s not simply a villain anymore. He does have some level of sympathy… his scenes with Killer Frost were hard to swallow though.
Overall, I hope The Flash can keep up with this momentum. Iris West-Allen is working and had a thing with her intern, but it was the least interesting element as it readdressed the whole “Team Flash” secret keeping. Other Harrison Wells from different Earths should be common knowledge by now!
