unOrdinary “Trio Trouble Arc” (Episode 48 through Episode 50) Webtoon Review
Major Spoilers are included in this season review. Please read with caution.
The shortest arc yet.
“Trio Trouble Arc” focused on three side-characters—Remi, Islen, and Blyke—and their trip to Kovoro Mall, the same shopping mall John and Seraphina visited near the start of the series. Blyke and Islen wanted to take Remi there to see a romance movie in order to cheer her up. They visited the mall, shopped for stuff, went to see the movie, and then they visited the ability gauge booth hoping to get Remi a free gift.
I thought putting the focus on the side-characters was an interesting choice to make, considering how much I enjoyed Remi’s character whenever she popped up on screen. She was easily becoming a fan favorite character. I missed John and Seraphina, but this short arc was needed to give the readers a better idea on the unOrdinary’s current social hierarchy.
It was also a fun mini adventure when Remi recognized the bear she won. It was the same bear Seraphina had in her dorm room; the one with a tracking microchip embedded inside. Remi and the others tried to apprehend the guy for the trick, but a smoke bomb suddenly went off. This distraction allowed him to escape outside the mall. Remi, Islen, and Blyke chased after him, but the mall cops were getting in the way because they misunderstood the whole situation.
Episode 50 ended the “Trio Trouble Arc” with Remi, Islen, and Blyke discussing the social hierarchy and how the system may have made high-tier people—like Arlo and Seraphina—slaves to the flawed system. Seraphina’s—former—need to be perfect, and Arlo’s obsession with maintaining the status quo were used as examples to how they had effectively enslaved themselves without the authorities needing to impose restrictions on them. I found their conversation on the subject very fascinating.
Overall, I had a good time reading this arc and learning more about the other characters running around in this series. I’m excited to see how the Webtoon will handle these side-characters moving forward. unOrdinary played the long game with great efficiency, gently pushing us through this interesting superhero story.
