DC's Legends of Tomorrow 4x07 "Hell No, Dolly" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
Legends of Tomorrow might have too much going on in this episode, but it’s a lot of fun… the show might get away with it. There’s the monster-of-the-week with the A-Team, Mona and her crush on the Werewolf creature, and then my favorite storyline: John Constantine.
We learn the demon’s name. The one after John Constantine and why the sorcerer is adamant on escaping him. His name is Neron, the ruler of Hell, and the demon who took John’s man love from him. Constantine thought he could escape these feelings and the past, but being back in 1800s New Orleans was a reminder that his pain will never go away.
Teaming up with Charlie, Constantine decides to break the number one rule of time travel and goes back numerous times to ensure he and Desmond never met. If they never met, Desmond will never get dragged to Hell. The emotional beats behind this story work effectively. John Constantine is a tragic character. The poor guy can’t catch a break.
Zari tries to stop Constantine from changing the past, but she is too late and time breaks. She is also turned into an adorable cat. Charlie is in big trouble. But she got her shape-shifting powers back. Cool?
Ava and Mick’s feud was an interesting one. Sara tries to play the middle person and wants them to get along. She cares for them both immensely. Mick calls out Ava for being a clone, such an insensitive jerk, and even Sara has to tell him to back off. This feud is not resolved because they have to deal with the killer puppet and then time break.
Mona’s storyline with Gary and Nate could’ve been cut-out or rearranged. I don’t think it was necessary to include. She deserves better than this. Compared to everything else going on, this side story was pushing it. In the end, the monster hurt her anyway. Like what else was going to happen?
Next week’s episode will not be a part of Elseworlds. On the account that Constantine broke time. The Legends are giving Barry Allen a run for his money when it comes to messing with the timeline. Maybe I’ve spoken too soon because… the 100th episode of The Flash is tonight and there’s a lot of time traveling going on there too.
