DC's Legends of Tomorrow 4x05 "Tagumo Attacks!!!" Episode Review
Major Spoilers are included in this episode review. Please read with caution.
There was too much going on in this episode. We had the Legends tackle a mission, Nate and Ava were doing Thanksgiving Dinner with his family, Gary and Mona were bonding/fending off the Fugitives, and Ray/Nora were working together to save John Constantine. This made the episode overstuffed and hard for me to invest in all of it: I tried to mainly focus on Mick Rory’s writing awakening, but the other stuff kept distracting me.
Zari is rocking out this season and having her paired off with different members of the team to help them deal is truly amazing. She is encouraging Mick to embrace his destiny as a writer but she is not afraid to call him out on his pig-headed ego either. Mick Rory was the last member of the original cast I expected to have this much development or even survive past the first season.
Ava and Nate’s trip to Thanksgiving was a nice reminder on Ava’s lack of real memories and understanding of family. The ending with Nate’s Father is pretty ominous and opens up on a heated mystery on why the federal government wants these Fugitives. This will create real tension for the Time Bureau’s funding and Nate’s fragile relationship with his father.
The main Fugitive was an actual book that could materialize the writer’s dream. I enjoyed Mick saving the day when Zari, Sara, and Charlie failed to stop the creature from destroying Japan. Although, I do like how the women outnumber the men on this show. We needed to invest more time in this story, but overstuffed episode… oh well.
Not the best episode… considering how often I checked how much time was left in it. I hate when I do that. It means I’m over the episode, but it was entertaining nonetheless.
